The seven-year-old child who died in an explosion in Newcastle has been identified.
His family has given the deceased seven-year-old the name Archie York in honor of the child.
There has also been the discovery of another body, believed to be that of a guy in his 30s.
“The families and friends of the two individuals who have tragically lost their lives are very much on our mind,” a Northumbria Police spokesperson said.
“We would ask everyone to respect their privacy during this time as special officers are helping their loved ones.”
Emergency workers were hurried to the scene of the incident, which occurred between the Benwell and Elswick communities of Newcastle, early on October 16.
All but one of the six other people who were hospitalized as a result of the incident—five adults and a child—have been discharged from treatment.
Northumbria Police confirmed to PA that the only patient who was not discharged from the hospital was a guy in his 30s who was in a serious but stable condition.
They continued by saying that there were no missing persons cases connected to the blast.
Superintendent Darren Adams stated, “I come before you today with deep sorrow over the untimely death of a small boy,” during his speech at the location yesterday.
“A seven-year-old boy has tragically died as a result of the incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning.”
“He tragically passed away at the scene despite the emergency services’ best efforts.”
“This is a really terrible result.”
“I’m sure that the residents of Elswick, Benwell, and the surrounding area will want to join me in sending their condolences and best wishes to friends and family. It is impossible to imagine the sorrow and agony they must be going through.
According to the Metro, the seven-year-old’s family has been honoring him on social media.
According to them, Archie’s aunt wrote on social media that he was “the most beautiful, funny, & caring little boy” and that his name “deserves to be shouted from the rooftops.”
In addition, they assert that a neighbor called the seven-year-old a “lovely lad” that “everyone did know.”
Drone footage of the homes affected by the explosion showed that one house was almost completely destroyed, and other homes in the vicinity suffered significant damage.
Several other persons were also evacuated from their homes as a result of the blast.
