Watching young performers in school talent shows is always a treat, whether they’re acting, singing, dancing, or presenting another skill. Although every participant deserves praise for stepping onto the stage and giving their best effort, occasionally a performance stands out for its exceptional creativity and originality.
Take, for instance, the 2017 Elementary Talent Show at New Braunfels Christian Academy in Texas, where four fifth-grade boys delivered a memorable act. At the start, they covered themselves with a black cloth to keep their performance a surprise. When the cloth was dramatically pulled away, the audience was greeted with a humorous sight: the boys were dressed in baby clothes, complete with fake legs they maneuvered using their arms. The crowd erupted in laughter, and this was just the beginning of their inventive act.
The audience was even more delighted with what came next: the boys donned their suits and danced brilliantly and imaginatively to a number of hit songs. The opening song, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” had the males dancing and miming with enthusiasm. The crowd’s favorite was Carl Douglas’s “Kung Fu Fighting,” when the four dancers in suits displayed their kung fu skills to cheers and applause.
