At the 50th jubilee of “An Evening with Champions,” Olympic silver and bronze medalists Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue delivered an emotional performance routine. They perform their dance to the moving music “Once I Was Loved” by Melody Gardot.
An Evening with Champions is a public, non-benefit good cause event that generates funds for “The Jimmy Fund,” the funding branch of the “Dana-Farber Cancer Institute,” to combat cancer development.
An Evening with Champions, which began in 1970 at Harvard, hosts a yearly showcase of elite figure skaters. Olympic and well-known competitors have participated, including Yuna Kim, Michelle Kwan, Nathan Chen, and Evan Lysacek
Zachary is dressed simply in a white shirt and black trousers, while Madison is dressed elegantly in a short floral sundress. Their spectacular performance is expertly arranged to catch the atmosphere of the song.
Zachary lifts her above his head and bends her as he skates across the ice. The crowd applauds and the spotlight follows them as they skate dance perfectly. The leftover ice glows with a deep purple color.
Zachary keeps skating while Madison crosses his back and walks away. Their progressions are smooth and perfectly matched to the song. Madison drapes both of her arms around Zachary’s neck, leaving her dangling loose from his body.
While she is still dangling there, Zachary pulls her as high as he can. They bow and hug as their final stance. Two amazing dancers performed flawlessly. The stunned audience applauds the duo loudly for their talent as well as their noble cause.
